Cultus lake is located in the popular recreational area of
Cultus Lake Provincial Park, 13 kilometres south of Chilliwack.
From Taams’ Bed and Breakfast Rest Haven Resort travel
the Mount Lehman Road towards the Trans Canada Highway and
head out East Bound. Exit at Nr. 3 Road towards the Village
of Yarrow.
Yarrow
On the way to Yarrow you may take a pause and linger at the
produce shop of Wigley’s, where fine preserves may be
purchased at reasonable prices. The establishment features
pet animals, amongst others a goat performing acrobatic acts
for a small edible reward. In the Village you may shop for
some fine antiques.
Sardis and Chilliwack Mountain
On the way to Cultus Lake you go past Yarrow to Sardis. You ‘ll
cross the Chilliwack River, and at this point you might want
to divert your journey into a small sight seeing excursion
of Chilliwack Mountain, which offers you a magnificent view
of the fertile Fraser Valley.
Cultus Lake Provincial Park
From Sardis you follow the signs to Cultus Lake. Passing Vedder
you enter the park via a paved road which is in constant use
by local residents and those from around the lower mainland
of the Fraser Valley. In recent years the area has become highly
developed with private residences, resorts, marinas and facilities
for a recreational uses. The lake has a beautiful sandy shore
line, with facilities provided for almost every conceivable
outdoor activity from boating, water skiing, swimming and picnicking
to horseback riding, biking and hiking.
Fishing at Cultus Lake
The lake has a main depth of 23 metres. The size is circa
1550 acres. The lake is stocked with natural Steelhead, Whitefish,
Dolly Varden, Coho, and Sockeye Salmon. Due to increased use
of the lake for other recreational activities, fishing pressure
has declined in the recent years. Trout may reach over 3 pounds
with trolling and fly fish being the most successful methods
used.
Tourist and Visitor facilities at Cultus Lake
Services are available in the community of Cultus Lake on
the North end or in nearby Chilliwack and Sardis. There is
an 18 Par 63 Golf Course, a Putting Course, Water Slides, Horseback
Riding and Petting Zoo, Boat & Jet Ski Rentals, Mini Golf
and Bumper Boats & Rides.
